Just a quick note

Do you treat your cashier with respect and kindness?  How long has it been since you gave them a smile and a thank you when they finish your transaction?  Lately, I have been flooded with complaints from cashiers that I know that are sooo frustrated with couponers being rude and disrespectful.   I am very discouraged when I hear these stories.  I am all about getting the maximum savings when I coupon, but I will never raise my voice or belittle my cashier.  If you have a problem with the way a coupon scanned, or didn't scan, please deal with it in a calm manner.  These cashiers are just trying to do their job, and they will probably help you more if you talk to them respectfully.  I truly believe this new couponing show has brought the greed out in people, and they will do anything they have to do to save a penny.  Is that what couponing is really about....greed?    I personally don't understand it.    I hope I didn't step on any body's toes, but I just had to get this off my back.

agreed! Extreme couponers are just that - extreme! And ridiculous! Everyone should be able to benefit from coupons, and no one should be greedy, especially hoarding things that aren't necessary. It's absolutely mortifying to think of people being rude to people who are just doing their jobs!

So true... I have noticed a lot more people checking out with a lot more coupons lately but the cashiers I've dealt with have all been friendly and helpful. A smile and friendly attitude goes a long way. Put yourself in their shoes. They have a job to do and part of that job is to keep the store from losing money because a coupon is invalid/used incorrectly/whatever. So if they question a coupon, please exercise some patience. It makes couponing better for everyone.

I look at my coupon deals as a blessing not a "right". I don't think there are very many people in this prosperous and wealthy country of ours that need free or cheap toothpaste, shampoo or salad dressing badly enough to warrant being rude to another person.

THANK YOU Ginger for bringing this to light. It has become horrible in recent weeks.

I agree with you too Ginger. I have talked to some cashiers and some can't stand to see couponers come to their register. I always try to talk to the cashier asking them how they are doing, ect. I probably annoy them with my chatter more than my coupons but they need to understand I NEED adult conversation! LOL. No really they deserve respect, they are doing their job, no deal is worth being disrespectable to others.

You all have very valid points!!

You are only hurting yourself by making a scene about coupons. The cashiers put a flag on your head and when they see you come in to shop they remember you and already have their defensive guard up.
