2nd Transaction:

I have lost my receipt on this transaction, so I am going to wing it!  I know what my oop was, so I will go with that!!

1 Stayfree product - $2.99
1 Purex Crystals - $3.99
1 Luster White toothpaste - $4.99
4 Butterfinger Snackers - $0.39 ea. = $1.56

Splenda deal at Walgreens

I was just thinking about the Splenda/Catalina deal at Walgreens.  Is anyone having trouble finding the product??    If you can't find the product, I think I have a few ways for you to get the Splenda free anyway!

Walmart - you can take the Walgreen's ad and have them price match it.  You will then get it for free, plus $0.01 overage  (lol)

Target will also price match, but I think you have to do it at customer service instead of at the register.

Or, you can get a rain check at Walgreens, and try the Catalina deal when the product comes in.  The Catalina deal doesn't end until May 15th, so you should be able to get the Splenda for free and get your Catalina at a later time but before May 15th.

If you don't know about the Splenda deal, here is how it goes.  I did this on Sunday, and it worked like a charm!

Buy 3 100 ct. boxes of Splenda - @ $2.99 ea. = $8.97
use - (3) $3.00/1 Splenda coupon from (4-17-11 SS)
Total oop - $0.00, plus you get the $4.00 Catalina to be used on your next order!

My 3rd coupon beeped, but the cashier just needed to adjust the coupon down, and she did with no problems!   I love the cashiers over at Ashland Road.  They really know their stuff!!

If you only have 2 of the coupons, you can buy 2 Splenda for free and still get a $3.00 Catalina!

Rolling my Walgreen's Register Rewards part 2

I went back to Walgreens today to roll my rewards on a few more things, and here is what I did.

1st transaction:

2 Got2B styling products - $10.00
2 Trident Vitality Gum - $2.00
1 Laffy Taffy - $0.10 - filler item
Total = $12.10 plus tax

Coupons I used:

- $4.00 Register Reward from last transaction
- $1.00 Register Reward from last transaction
- (2) $2.00/1 Got2B from April All You.  (I only get 1 magazine, but I asked my sister in law for the 2nd coupon to do the deal, and she wasn't going to use it, so she said yes!!  Ask around if you need a 2nd coupon.  You never know....someone may not be using it!) (Thanks Stacy!!)
- bogo gum coupon - register took $1.00 off
- $0.50/2 gum coupon from April savings book
Total oop - $1.60, plus $0.68 tax.....plus I received a $5.00 Register Reward!

***Not sure if I covered this, but you must have 1 item per coupon.  If you do not, your last coupon will not go through the register.  If that happens, just grab an inexpensive filler item.  In-ad or savings book coupons do not count in that total.

2nd transaction:

1 Luster Toothpaste - $4.99
1 Carefree product - $0.99
1 Dawn dish soap - $0.99
3 Laffy Taffy - $0.30 - filler item - Remember, you can choose any filler item you want, just make it inexpensive.
Total = $7.27, plus tax

Coupons I used:

- $5.00 Register Reward from above transaction
- $1.50 Luster toothpaste
- $0.50 Carefree coupon - this coupon beeps, but it is the correct coupon.  The cashier will have to put it in manually
- $0.25 Dawn Coupon
Total oop = $0.02, plus $0.47 tax,  plus I received a $4.00 Register Reward and a $1.00 Register Reward to spend next week.

I want to explain the filler item a little better.  Not only do you need a filler item for the coupon/product ratio.  You also need a filler item if your subtotal is in the negative.  If you notice, my subtotal before the $0.30 laffy taffy would have been a negative -$0.27.  I learned today that Walgreen's registers will not allow manufacture coupons to "eat" the tax, so you must make sure your subtotal is in the positive.  (that was the reason for me to give my register reward 1st so the manufacture coupons will take care of the tax, but apparently I was wrong!)  To make sure you always have your subtotal in the positive.  Add up your items in your cart, subtract your Register Rewards and your manufacture coupons, and that will be your subtotal.

So for my total out of pocket for Walgreens this week is $4.24 and I have a $4.00 Register Reward and a $1.00 Register Reward to "roll" next week.

Stay tuned.....I will be doing a series on CVS and Rite-Aid, just like I am doing Walgreens.  I just haven't been able to hit all the stores yet.

Rolling my Walgreen's Register Rewards

So last week I showed you how to shop at Walgreens, and learn about their Register Rewards.  At the end of my transactions I ended up with a $4.00 Register Reward.  Today, I am going to show you how to take that $4.00 RR and roll it on some deals for this week!

2 packs of Trident Vitalty Gum - $2.00
2 packs of plastic spoons - 2/$0.99
7 Snickers Eggs - $2.03
Total Cost - $11.00 plus tax

I use the following coupons in this order:

the $4.00 Register Reward from last weeks purchases
1 - $1.50/1 coupon for the toothpaste
1 - $0.50/1 coupon for the Carefree
1 - bogo Trident coupon
1 - $2.00/2 printable for the Snickers Eggs.
use the $0.50/2 Walgreens coupon found in the April coupon booklet.
Total oop - $1.00, plus $0.47 tax,
Plus I got a $4.00 Register Reward back from the toothpaste and a $1.00 Register Reward back from the Carefree!

We now have $5.00 in Register Rewards to spend next week!  I may go back and do a few more deals this week!  I will post them if I do!

Learning about Walgreens and their Register Rewards

I will not be doing any match-ups for the drug stores, but I do want you all to know how to do the programs.  Hip2save has really good match ups for all of the drug stores.

Starting with this week, I thought I would start from the beginning and teach you how to roll your Register Rewards with Walgreens.  I will start this week with no register rewards, and then show you how I am going to roll them each week!  Our goal is to keep our oop (out of pocket) as low as possible.  Unfortunately, when you start out with no Register Rewards, you do have more oop than normal.  Here is how I shopped at Walgreens this week......

On my 1st transaction I bought:

1 Colgate Max Fresh 6oz toothpaste - $2.99
2 Colgate 360 toothbrushes @ $2.50 ea = $5.00
Total cost = $7.00

I used the following coupons:
- 1-$0.75/1 Colgate toothpaste (04-03-10 SS)
- 2-$1.00/1 Colgate toothbrush (3-27-10 SS)
subtotal = $5.24, tax $0.54
Total oop = $5.78 and I received a $3.00 RR and a $2.00 RR

On my 2nd transaction I bought:

1 Gillette Fusion Razor - $9.99 - my husband loves these!!!
2 Laffy Taffy @ $0.10 ea = $0.20 - these are called filler items.  You can only have the same amount of coupons as you do products.  You can choose anything for your filler item, I just like to keep the price as low as possible!
Total cost = $10.19
I used the following coupons:

- $3.00 Register Reward from the above transaction - (I always give my register rewards first, then my manu. coupons.)
- $2.00 Register Reward from the above transaction
- $3.00/1 Gillette Fusion Razor
subtotal = $2.19, tax $0.75
Total oop = $2.94, and I received a $4.00 RR

3rd and last transaction:

2 Always Maxi products - 2/$6.00
1 laffy taffy (filler item) - $0.10
Total cost = $6.10
I used the following coupons:

- $4.00 Register Reward from above transaction
- 2 - $1.00/1 Always (04-03-10 PG)
subtotal - $0.10, tax $0.41
Total oop = $0.51, and I received a $4.00 Register Reward to roll for next weeks deals!!

I did 3 different transactions in order to keep my oop low.   Also, there are many more deals to be done at Walgreens this week, these were the best ones for my family!

Original price for the above items would have been $24.28, but with coupons and register rewards, I paid $9.14 oop plus I have a $4.00 RR to spend next week!    Remember, as the weeks go on, you will accumulate more register rewards and that will get your oop lower and lower.  When you are just learning any drug store reward program, start off small so you don't get discouraged.   Always feel free to ask me any questions!!
